Traditionally, hyaluronic acid has been widely used for drug delivery, but the current application bottleneck is that hyaluronic acid is hydrophilic and electronegative, which makes it difficult to carry hydrophobic drugs and small interfering RNA(siRNA)with the same charge.Based on previous studies,we designed and synthesized hyaluronic acid nanocarriers HA-spermine/N,N,N-trimethylcystamine/DOX-TPP(HSTD)for loading siRNA to overcome the problem of siRNA release caused by strong electrostatic interaction. Then,N,N,Ntrimethylcystamine in the carrier can be degraded by intracellular glutathione to completely and rapidly release siRNA,thus promoting transfection. Moreover, when codelivered with the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin(DOX),this novel nanocarrier showed promising synergy in inhibiting tumor growth.
The third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC)stressed that,to further deepen reform,we must adhere to systematic thinking and properly handle the relationship between development and security;furthermore,we must achieve positive interplay between high-quality development and high-level security to effectively ensure China's long-term stability.Ensuring both development and security is a major principle underlying the CPC's governance. This principle has been gradually established and enriched in the CPC's struggle to promote socio-economic development and safeguard national security. It is an important component of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,encapsulating the worldview and methodology of the CPC's innovative theories in the new era and realizing the dialectical unity of political security and economic security,a people-centered development philosophy and a people-oriented security philosophy, the fundamental approaches to development and the fundamental requirements of security,high-quality development and high-level security, and maintaining the initiative for development and enhancing security preparedness.Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the principle of ensuring both development and security has demonstrated great strength in guiding our thinking and promoting practical creativity, showing that the CPC's understanding of the dialectical relationship between development and security and its capacity to enhance security through development and ensure development through security have reached new heights.
Background and Objective: HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are very widespread in the world, however, less than 20% of the people affected are diagnosed and treated. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of HIV, HCV and HBV co-infections in pregnant women at Bangui Community University Hospital and the cost of screening. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving consenting pregnant women who came for antenatal care was performed. HIV, HCV antibodies and HBV antigens were detected using Exacto Triplex? HIV/HCV/HBsAg rapid test, cross-validated by ELISA tests. Sociodemographic and professional data, the modes of transmission and prevention of HIV and both hepatitis viruses were collected in a standard sheet and analyzed using the Epi-Info software version 7. Results: Pregnant women aged 15 to 24 were the most affected (45.3%);high school girls (46.0%), and pregnant women living in cohabitation (65.3%) were the most represented. Twenty-five (16.7%) worked in the formal sector, 12.7% were unemployed housewives and the remainder in the informal sector. The prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV viruses was 11.8%, 21.9% and 22.2%, respectively. The prevalence of co-infections was 8.6% for HIV-HBV, 10.2% for HIV-HCV, 14.7% for HBV-HCV and 6.5% for HIV-HBV-HCV. All positive results and 10% of negative results by the rapid test were confirmed by ELISA tests. The serology of the three viruses costs 39,000 FCFA (60 Euros) by ELISA compared to 10,000 FCFA (15.00 Euros) with Exacto Triplex? HIV/HCV/AgHBs (BioSynex, Strasbourg, France). Conclusion: The low level of education and awareness of hepatitis are barriers to development and indicate the importance of improving the literacy rate of women in the Central African Republic (CAR). Likewise, the high prevalence of the three viruses shows the need for the urgent establishment of a national program to combat viral hepatitis in the CAR.
Chiral secondary alcohols are an important class of functionalities commonly seen in drugs and other bioactive compounds. In an ongoing drug discovery program in our laboratories,a nitro-bearing racemic allylic secondary alcohol (±)-1 was discovered as a promising drug candidate, and in the following preclinical studies,a concise, reliable, practical synthetic approach to its both enantiomers with high optical purities was greatly needed. In the present study,we developed a chiral resolution approach of (±)-1 to its both enantiomers,i.e.,(+)-1 and (-)-1,via the strategy of diastereomeric ester formation and crystallization using both N-Boc-D- and N-Boc-L-phenylglycines as chiral auxiliaries. The absolute configurations of all the four key intermediates were unambiguously determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, providing a solid foundation for the stereochemistry of the present study. The two enantiomers were obtained in high optical purities. This approach is characterized by scalability and practicality and is envisaged to enable the chiral resolution of other racemic secondary alcohols, especially those with labile groups, such as NO_(2);olefinic C=C bond.
Over the past three decades,Friday nights have witnessed Beijing's Panjiayuan night market transform into a bustling hub of locals and tourists alike.Jostling for precious artifacts, they ogle a variety of art, crafts, jade, jewelry, and, most notably, exquisite antiques,or古玩(guwán),which together showcase the unique charm of the centuries-old capital.
Microbial communities, derived from food, ambient, and inner, can affect host ecological adaption and evolution.Comparing with most phytophagous arthropods, predators may have more opportunities to develop specific microbiota depending on the level of prey specialization. To explore how diet sources affect host microbial communities and vary across predator species,we considered 3 types of predators from Phytoseiidae(Acari:Mesostigmata):polyphagous(Amblyseius orientalis Ehara,Neoseiulus barkeri Hughes, and Amblyseius swirski Athias-Henrio),oligophagous(Neoseiulus californicus McGregor),and monophagous(Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot)predatory mites. The polyphagous species were fed on 2 types of diets, natural prey and alternative prey.By using 16S rRNA sequencing,we found that diet was the main source of microbiota in predatory mites, while there was no clear pattern affected by prey specialization.Among 3 polyphagous predators, host species had a larger impact than prey on microbial composition.Unlike A.orientalis or N.barkeri which showed consistency in their microbiota, prey switching significantly affectedβ-diversity of bacterial composition in A.swirskii, with 56%of the microbial alteration. In short, our results confirmed the substantial influence of diet on host microbial construction in predatory species, and highlighted species differences in shaping the microbiota which are not necessarily related to prey specialization.
