This experiment was conducted in the demonstration bases of pecan in Jiande,Zhejiang Province, which mainly studied on the growth of pecan seedlings under various water stresses. The results were as follows: the indexes of tree height, root diameter, root length, root surface area and root volume and so on were different significantly under various water stresses. That was, with the water stress being heavier, all these indexes appeared a declining trend;and if it was rewatered in the following process, all these indexes would grow, but the indexes of root length, root surface area and root volume changed with the control. In addition, the proline content in the leaves would grow rapidly in threatening initial stage and decline along with the water stress increased, and it would recover to the original level when the pecan seedlings were rewatered.
