微纳米尺度下考虑表面效应的圆形薄板的位移解

基于Gurtin的表面弹性理论,综合考虑板的表面弹性和残余表面应力的影响,建立了微纳米尺度下薄板承受横向分布载荷的力学模型.然后以周边固支的圆板承受横向均布载荷为例,求得了残余表面应力为零、取正值和取负值时的挠曲线.最后对板的位移解进行了分析,阐明了残余表面应力对于其变形的影响.这些计算和分析丰富了传统固体力学的研究范畴,并且为研制微型传感器、微机电系统等提供了一定的参考.

细长杆弹性线模型的发展历史被引量:4

细长杆的弹件线模型广泛存在于自然界和工程实际中,如海底电缆、高压输电线、柔性绳索、弹簧、石油工程中的钻杆和抽油杆、纳米纤维和纳米管、DNA和大分子聚合物、攀缘类植物的茎等。弹性细长杆的变形伴随着结构很强的几何非线性,从而对其进行力学分析具有很强的挑战性。整个弹性线的发展史是一部激动人心的历史,从问题提出到现在,其时间尺度跨越了大约8个世纪。参与弹性线研究的杰出科学家层出不穷,他们从数学、力学、实验等角度进行了各种探索。笔者主要从平面弹性线、空间弹性线以及弹性线与其他物理现象的比拟等角度对其发展历史加以介绍。弹性线的历史发展也使我们了解到数学力学与工程技术在解决实际问题时是如何紧密结合的。

Why a mosquito leg possesses superior load-bearing capacity on water:Experimentals

Mosquitoes possess the striking ability to walk on water because each of their legs has a huge water supporting force(WSF) that is 23 times their body weight.Aiming at a full understanding of the origins of this extremely large force,in this study,we concentrate on two aspects of it:the intrinsic properties of the leg surface and the active control of the initial stepping angle of the whole leg.Using a measurement system that we developed ourselves,the WSFs for the original leg samples are compared with those whose surface wax and microstructures have been removed and with those of a different stiffness.The results show that leg f exibility plays a dominant role over surface wax and microstructures on the leg surface in creating the supporting force.Moreover,we discuss the dependence relationship between the maximum WSF and the initial stepping angle,which indicates that the mosquito can regulate this angle to increase or decrease the WSF during landing or takeoff.These finding are helpful for uncovering the locomotion mechanism of aquatic insects and for providing inspiration for the design of microfluids miniature boats,biomimetic robots,and microsensors.

在日常生活和工农业生产中,表面张力引起大量有趣的物理现象。笔者介绍了表面张力的物理本质,并综述了自然界中表面张力引起的几个新奇现象,例如球状露珠、液膜、浮在水面的针和水面运动小动物、抱团蚂蚁筏子、荷叶超疏水、以及水鸟的特殊摄食机制等。这些表面张力诱发的现象为我们向自然界学习并仿生制造新型的工具提供了重要的思路。

A unified analysis of a micro-beam,droplet and CNT ring adhered on a substrate:Calculation of variation with movable boundaries被引量:3

In this study, we developed a general method to analytically tackle a kind of movable boundary problem from the viewpoint of energy variation. Having grouped the adhesion of a micro-beam, droplet and carbon nanotube (CNT) ring on a substrate into one framework, we used the developed line of reasoning to investigate the adhesion behaviors of these systems. Based upon the derived governing equations and transversality conditions, explicit solutions involving the critical parameters and morphologies for the three systems are successfully obtained, and then the parameter analogies and common characteristics of them are thor- oughly investigated. The presented method has been verified via the concept of energy release rate in fracture mechanics. Our analyses provide a new approach for exploring the mechanism of different systems with similarities as well as for understanding the unity of nature. The analysis results may be beneficial for the design of nano-structured materi- als, and hold potential for enhancing their mechanical, chemical, optical and electronic properties.

基于应变梯度理论的纳米悬臂梁的大位移分析被引量:2

以Aifantis发展的应变梯度理论为基础,探讨微纳米尺度下线弹性悬臂梁受集中载荷作用下的大变形问题。基于Euler-Bernoulli梁理论,考虑应变梯度的影响,建立悬臂梁发生大变形时的弹性微分方程,并给出相应的边界条件。通过打靶法并借助于Math CAD软件,求得考虑应变梯度时悬臂梁在自由端集中载荷作用下的挠度数值解。结果表明,在微纳米尺度下应变梯度对悬臂梁的变形有较大影响,弹性变形梯度系数对梁发生大变形比发生小变形时的影响更明显,且弹性梯度系数对于梁的变形有抑制作用。

Stability and local bifurcation of parameter-excited vibration of pipes conveying pulsating fluid under thermal loading被引量:3

The parametric excited vibration of a pipe under thermal loading may occur because the fluid is often transported heatedly. The effects of thermal loading on the pipe stability and local bifurcations have rarely been studied. The stability and the local bifurcations of the lateral parametric resonance of the pipe induced by the pulsating fluid velocity and the thermal loading are studied. A mathematical model for a simply supported pipe is developed according to the Hamilton principle. Two partial differential equations describing the lateral and longitudinal vibration are obtained. The singularity theory is utilized to anMyze the stability and the bifurcation of the system solutions. The transition sets and the bifurcation diagrams are obtained both in the unfolding parameter space and the physical parameter space, which can reveal the relationship between the thermal field parameter and the dynamic behaviors of the pipe. The frequency response and the relationship between the critical thermal rate and the pulsating fluid velocity are obtained. The numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the single-mode expansion of the solution and the stability and local bifurcation analyses. It also confirms the existence of the chaos. The presented work can provide valuable information for the design of the pipeline and the controllers to prevent the structural instability.

A new look on wetting models:continuum analysis被引量:4

In this study,we considered the wetting phenomenon on a general substrate from a new viewpoint of continuum mechanics.The analyses first show how the Wenzel and the Cassie models deviate the practical results in some special substrates,and then elucidate the mechanism of the triple contact line(TCL) moving.Based upon variational theory of the total free functional dealing with the movable boundary condition,we show that the macroscopic contact angle(MCA) expression is the corresponding transversality condition.It manifests that the MCA depends only on the chemical and geometric property at the TCL,and is not affected by the gravity of the droplet and the contact area beneath the liquid.Our continuum model also shows the exploration of the pinning effect on a sharp wedge or the interface between two different phases.This investigation will help designing super-hydrophobic materials for novel micro-fluidic devices.
