Property variation of ionic liquid [Bmim][AuCl_4] immobilized on carboxylated polystyrene submicrospheres with a small surface area

In order to understand the effect of surface chemical groups on the immobilized species, Au-containing imidazolium-based ionic liquid (IL) [Bmim][AuCl4] was intentionally immobilized on polystyrene (PS) submicrospheres (d~300 nm) with a very small surface area (4-10 m2/g), which possess carboxyl-moiety (COONa or COOH) on the surface. The behavior of immobilized [Bmim][AuCl4 ] on the two types of submicrospheres was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was revealed that the melting points (Tm) of [Bmim][AuCl4 ] that had been immobilized on PS-COONa and PS-COOH submicrospheres were decreased by 2.7 and 4.1℃, respectively. The interaction mechanism between the IL and submicrosphere surface moieties was further analyzed by X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis. The data indicated that the coordination environment of Au species changed markedly when [Bmim] [AuCl4] was immobilized on the surfaces of PS-COONa and PS-COOH submicrospheres, as illustrated by the decrease in white line peak intensity. The effect of surface COOH groups on Tm depression and the white line peak intensity of the XANES spectrum is more pronounced than that of COONa groups, most likely due to the possible hydrogen bond formation between the COOH group and [Bmim]+.

Synthesis and morphology control of raspberry-like poly(ethylene terephthalate)/polyacrylonitrile microspheres被引量:2

The fabrication of raspberry-like poly(ethylene terephthalate)/polyacrylonitrile(PET/PAN) microspheres by g-ray radiation-induced polymerization of acrylonitrile on micron-sized PET microspheres were first reported in this work. A PET emulsion was firstly prepared by dispersing a PET solution with 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane/phenol mixture as the solvent into an aqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate.Then, PET microspheres were formed by precipitating the PET emulsion droplets from ethanol. The influence of the PET solvent and the weight ratio of ethanol to PET emulsion on the morphology of the PET microspheres had been investigated. After the surface of the prepared PET microspheres was grafted with poly(acrylic acid), the grafting polymerization of AN also had been successfully initiated by g-ray radiation to form PAN microspheres with a size of about 100 nm on the PET microspheres. This work provides a new method to fabricate micron-sized PET microspheres, and further expands the functionalization of PET and its application fields.

可聚合型非离子乳化剂合成及其在苯乙烯辐射细乳液聚合中的应用

为深入探讨细乳液稳定机理,本文设计合成了一种可聚合型的非离子乳化剂丙烯酸羟乙酯-2,4-甲苯二异氰酸酯-单甲基聚乙二醇(HEA-TDI-PEO),该乳化剂的亲水性和溶解度可通过改变PEO链分子量和总分子量进行调节。通过在苯乙烯辐射细乳液聚合中的应用研究发现,HEA-TDI-PEO在作为乳化剂的同时也能起到助稳定剂的作用,其聚合动力学符合细乳液液滴成核的特征,但聚合速率慢,转化率低。当PEO分子量为2000时,用HEA-TDI-PEO乳化剂配制的细乳液体系最为稳定,粒子形貌均一。这种可聚合的乳化剂可以减少环境污染,在工业生产中具有潜在的应用前景。
