Activity, decay behavior, and selectivity at the initial reaction stage (TOS=15min) of liquid phase alkylation of isobutane with butenes over HEMT and HP catalysts were compared in a continuous fixed-bed reactor. It was found that th. initial activity of Hβ is slightly higher than that of HEMT, but its rate of decaying is faster than the later. The HEMT catalyst is more selective to TMPs and less selective to C, olefins than Hβ, which indicates that HEMT has larger abi1ity to transfer hydride than HP. Moreover HEMT is more favorable to form kinetical products 2, 3, 4-TMP and 2, 3, 3-TMP, while Hβ is more favorable to form thermodynamica1 product 2, 2, 4-TMP. Compared to Hβ, HEMT is a more hopeful catalyst for this reaction.
