Measurements were made to investigate the local behavior of recovery factor and heattransfer coefficient with free-surface circular jets. The experiments were performed withtransfer oil jets impinging on vertical constantuheat-flux surface from small pipe and orificenozzles of 1 mm diameter in the range of Re = 184 ~1920 and Pr = 120~ 400. Radialdistribution of recover factor was determined Heat transfer coefficient at stagnation pointfound to be independent of nozzle-to-plate spacing, but proportional to square root of jetReynolds number. Profiles of local heat transfer coefficients were obtained and correlated.
